Voice History (CV): For almost twenty five years, clients in the broadcast, commercial and corporate sectors, have put their money where Peter Dickson’s mouth is! His unique talent is his flexibility. From vocal characterisation for radio and TV commercials and cartoon animation, through blue chip corporate presentation to network documentary narration and on air branding for both Radio and TV. After completing his honours degree in Psychology, Peter began his career in BBC Radio News where he spent some 3 years as a radio reporter and sub editor and holds the unusual distinction of being the youngest ever TV news presenter in the history of the corporation. He has presented his own highly successful entertainment series “Peter Dickson’s Nightcap” for BBC Radio 2 which ran for 4 years, worked with Kenneth Williams, Ernie Wise and Roy Hudd on series for BBC Radio 2, and presented for Radio 1’s “Newsbeat”. Peter has presented programmes for the BBC’s World Service and has been the guest reader on Radio 4’s Morning Story. He was the main promotions voice for BBC 1 TV for 6 years, and worked closely with Steve Wright, creating writing and voicing many of the household name characters for Steve’s afternoon and morning award winning shows during the 80’s and early 90’s. In 1989, he launched the immensely successful Melody Radio (now Magic 105.4) in London, where he presented the breakfast show for 4 years. He continues to present music and entertainment shows for BBC Radio 2 and has contributed to two series of “Quote Unquote” for BBC Radio 4. In 1984 He appeared at the London Palladium alongside Jim Davidson in a special charity fundraiser for the victims of the Zebrugge disaster. Playright Dennis Potter, asked Peter to contribute to several of his highly acclaimed TV Dramas. More Television beckoned in 1994, when Harry Enfield cast him for various parts in his award winning Tiger Aspect series “Harry Enfield and Chums”. Various on screen character roles followed in the popular “Steve Wright People’s Show” Series 1 & 2 for BBC 1 TV. Bruce Forsyth called Peter to voice the famous “Come on Down’s” and prize descriptions for 7 series of ITV’s massive game show hit, “Bruce’s Price is Right”. Controller of Entertainment at Carlton TV Mark Wells, made sure Peter was on board for the 25 part series of “Family Fortunes” starring Les Dennis and Peter was Patrick Kielty’s first choice to carry the demanding live voice work on Channel 4’s ten part series “Last Chance Lottery Live”. Jim Moir aka Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer teamed up with Peter on all six episodes of “The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer” for BBC 2. He has also contributed to 9 series of the award winning BBC 1 panel game “They Think It’s All Over” presented by Nick Hancock. Peter has written for the award winning BBC 2 comedy series “The Fast Show” starring Paul Whitehouse, Mark Williams, Simon Day, Caroline Aherne, Arabella Weir, John Thompson and Charlie Higson and “Play Your Cards Right” for ITV, starring Bruce Forsyth. His other TV credits include, “Never Mind The Buzzcocks” with Mark Lamaar including the 1999 Christmas CD and book, acting roles in “Holby City”, “Noel’s House Party” and “Live and Kicking” for BBC 1, “The 10%’ers” and “The Unknown Soldier” for Carlton TV. He has featured on Griff Rees-Jones’ “Crystal Balls” for BBC 1, “Tales from Fear” for Cartoon Network, “Sing It Your Way” for ITV with Denise Van Outen and Ian Wright, and ITV’s “Year of Promise” with Carol Vorderman. Jerry Springer also made sure Peter was “up front and full on”, on his massive Friday Night hit produced by Carlton for ITV, and his subsequent “Late Night With Jerry Springer” for Channel 5. Peter has also completed work on Dennis Norden’s “It’ll be Alright on the Night 12”, "Catchphrase" and "Safe" for ITV and Ant & Dec’s new primetime Saturday night series Smack Bang also for the ITV network. He has also worked on "Monkey Dust" a new animated sketch show for BBC 2 Since 1998 Peter has worked closely with the Discovery Channel, narrating over 250 documentaries including the 25 part “FBI Files” one of Discovery’s highest rating shows and "Aircraft Stories" another ratings winner for Discovery Wings and Fighting Hurricanes. He has completed other major documentary series for BBC Television, Wall to Wall TV, Discovery Health, Café Productions, Flat Earth Films and British Movietone for whom he narrated the acclaimed 17 part series “The Complete History of World War Two”, “The Fall of the British Empire”, “The Young Elizabeth” and "Margaret Royal Rebel" for Channel 5, “Search for Destiny” "Battlefleet" 5 X 60", Churchill 3 X 60" and “Millenium Minute”. In Multimedia land Peter has completed the voices for the new Sony playstation "Official Formula 1" game for Eidos, the new Virgin PC Game "Evolva" and "Lotus Challenge 2", Take Two’s blockbuster “Flying Heroes”, Atrox and “Pizza Connection II” for Sony. He is also the voice of "Hex" - The Legend of the Towers, the new theme ride at Britains premier theme park Alton Towers and created the characters for LEGO’S Worldwide PC game hit “Knight’s Creator Kingdom” and "Crazy Castle". Peters voice is also featured on countless national TV and radio campaigns. Notably Gossard, BT Syntegra, Walls, Branston Pickle, The Sunday Express, Lego, Disney, COI, Wrigleys, He can currently be heard on radio commercials on over 230 of the UKs ILR stations. Peter is regularly heard on TV Promos for Cartoon Network, Bravo, Discovery & Nickleodeon. Peter has narrated an extremely high profile $700,000, 30 min travelogue for Bacardi in the USA, which has been sold for in flight viewing to 10 of the worlds premier carriers including British Airways, Delta and American Airlines.
